10 Things we wish our clients knew: #2
I've heard a lot of photographers say that they wish clients understood what all goes into getting their images to them.
So, I'm going to give you an idea of that today. Now this list is not all inclusive. Every photographer is different in their approach to getting the images to you.
Let's get right in to it. Keep in mind that all of this happens after the session.
-
The image cards have to be downloaded.
-
The files have to be backed up.
-
I go through all of the files and pick out the best pictures (a lot are duplicates sometimes).
-
Then I retouch each of the "chosen" images to my style. A lot of photographers, including me, will set up what's called "actions" that do a lot of the repetitive tasks automatically which saves a ton of time. I still look at each photo and make tweaks here and there until I am satisfied with it and think you will be also.
-
After I retouch all of the photos one by one, I put them in a slide show just for me and I watch the slide show over and over making notes on which images need a little more work. I'll make the changes to all of them then I'll repeat the process until I am happy with the results.
-
The files are then backed up again.
-
Final files are uploaded to a gallery I create on my website. I then organize them for a nice presentation.
-
Then comes the exciting part. I email the link for you to view!
-
Blog post is then created from the gallery.
The speed at which we do all of this also depends on how many pictures I end up taking during the session. Weddings for example it's not uncommon to have 2000 to 4000 images to go through whereas a mini session might have a 100.
Hopefully this will give you some idea of what all happens after your photo session.
